REAP Grants: Rural Energy
for America Program

The USDA’s REAP (Rural Energy for America Program) Grant supports renewable energy projects for rural small businesses and agricultural producers. It provides grants and loans for energy-efficient upgrades, renewable energy installations (like solar or wind), and energy conservation projects, helping recipients reduce utility expenses and become more self-sufficient.


  • Eligibility:  Rural small businesses and agricultural producers with 50% or more of their income from agricultural operations.
  • Funding Details:  Grants can cover up to 25% of total project costs, with additional loans available to fund up to 75%.
  • Benefits:  Reduces energy costs, supports rural communities, and promotes cleaner energy use.

Blue Sky Grants

The Blue Sky Program by Rocky Mountain Power supports renewable energy projects for community-focused organizations like nonprofits, schools, and government facilities. Funded through contributions from Blue Sky customers, these grants help eligible groups install solar, wind, or other renewable energy systems to reduce operational costs and showcase environmental stewardship.


  • Eligibility: Nonprofits, public schools, municipalities, and other community-centered organizations.
  • Funding Focus: Grants fund renewable energy installations and associated project costs.
  • Benefits: Lowers energy expenses, creates sustainable energy resources, and serves as an educational tool in communities.

Wattsmart Program

Rocky Mountain Power’s Wattsmart Program provides rebates and incentives for energy-efficient upgrades in homes, businesses, and industrial facilities. Wattsmart helps cover the costs of improvements like LED lighting, efficient appliances, insulation, and HVAC systems, making it easier to reduce energy use and save money.


  • Eligibility: Available to residential, commercial, and industrial customers of Rocky Mountain Power.
  • Funding Focus: Offers rebates for energy-efficient upgrades and renewable energy installations.
  • Benefits: Reduces energy bills, cuts down on energy consumption, and provides long-term savings.
