Summary of Position:
The Solar Sales & Marketing Manager is responsible for building and maintaining customer relationships, garnering new business, creating and implementing sales strategies, and supervising both Sales Team and Marketing Team members. While the position oversees both Sales and Marketing, the majority of time is spent with the Sales team and thus requires a candidate with a strong technical sales background in the solar industry. As a member of the Leadership Team, the Solar Sales & Marketing Manager helps shape company-wide goal-setting and decision-making in addition to overseeing the Sales and Marketing departments.
Duties
General
- Develop both sales and marketing strategies/targets to meet company goals
- Create, oversee, and maintain standard operating procedures and training
- Provide leadership, management and accountability to Sales & Marketing department, currently a 10 person team
- Provide backup for team members who our absent or for vacant positions
- Facilitate orientation and training to new team members
- Contribute to direction of the company as a member of the Leadership Team
- Manage data to track progress towards individual and team goals
- Facilitate weekly Sales and Marketing team meetings
- Evaluate and develop new opportunities that would benefit the team/company
- Manage and oversee commission structure and tracking for Sales team members
Sales strategy development and tracking (70%)
- Manage Sales Coordinator and Salespeople across SLC, Lander, and Laramie locations
- Maintain proposal templates, contracts, and other sales tools
- Track customer feedback and online reviews to ensure we maintain high ratings
- Oversee RFP process
- Assist in sales process for key opportunities
- Review of final project details before handing off to Project team
- Enforce standardized practices to maintain excellent customer service, thorough documentation, and quick response times
Marketing Support (25%)
- Supervise Marketing Manager
- Facilitate communication between Sales and Marketing teams
- Oversee and assist in development and implementation of marketing strategy
- Strengthen Creative Energy’s core strategy as a “referral-based company”
- Oversee budget allocation for each sales territory
- Ensure marketing tactics align with sales and general company vision and goals
Professional development (5% of time)
- Participate in courses and training as time allows (such as classes through Solar Energy International)
- Attend relevant conferences as recommended by Integrator
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
- Experience working in the solar industry - residential and commercial
- Proven track record of success in managing sales teams
- Experience in marketing
- Ability to develop trust through authenticity and honesty
- Alignment with the Creative Energies culture
- A commitment to excellent customer service from beginning to end
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build rapport with customers and team members
- Able to work comfortably and thrive in a self-directed environment
- High attention to detail with ability to see the big picture
- Competency in G Suite
- Competency with Tableau, Helioscope, OpenSolar, Energy Tool Base
Education/Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economics, engineering, or related field
- NABCEP credential preferred
Travel and Work schedule:
Individuals work with a flexible schedule. General expectations are to work 8 hour days between 8 AM and 5 PM, with Fridays as the designated work-from-home day. Occasional travel including out-of-state and overnight will be needed for training, team member meetings and to support Creative Energies sales and marketing across the three locations: Salt Lake City, UT, Lander, WY, and Laramie, WY.
Approximately 5% of time will be spent traveling for sales work, meetings and training.
Reports to/Supervises:
Reports directly to the Integrator. Supervises the Sales and Marketing Teams.
