Summary of Position: The Associate Project Manager is responsible for the successful initiation, planning, scheduling, oversight, and closure of Creative Energies’ solar projects. The Associate Project Manager will also assist with warehouse management and project equipment staging. Responsible for overseeing projects from contract signing to project completion. Fills a central role in organizing and planning all office projects including customer communication, scheduling, planning, and solving project challenges. This position will also help the Construction Team Leads provide direction, schedule, and workflow to Installers and Electricians and will work together with CTLs to forecast team member needs in order to hire appropriate field team members. This position will work with the Procurement Team Lead to streamline equipment for projects.
Duties:
Project management and customer communications:
● Interface with sales team members for contract review; review and send change orders and act as project liaison between sales and project team
● Oversee, support, and ensure the quality of customer communications
● Monitor permits/plan review and customer generation agreements
● Maintain and adjust a dynamic schedule of all upcoming projects and communicate to lead installers and lead electricians
● Coordinate with owners, subcontractors, and architects regarding project installation details
● Work collaboratively on company-wide project flow (including sales, design, procurement, and field teams)
Operations Support:
● Provide oversight, leadership, management, and accountability on projects from contract signing to completion
● Work with Construction Team Leads to ensure proper details are handed off to the Field team for every project
● Assist project team with troubleshooting project challenges (including equipment availability, design challenges, etc.)
● Confirm the quality and timeliness of the overall project
● Equipment staging for projects
● Shipping & Receiving support
● Coordination with Procurement Team Lead to determine additional warehouse needs, including Warehouse maintenance and cleanliness.
● Support inventory process to include regular cycle counts and updating pricing for quarterly counts
Professional Development:
● Participate in one or two training events per year focused on renewable energy technologies and installation practices. Examples include the Solar Power International conference and training offered by equipment manufacturers and distributors.
Qualifications/Experience:
● At least two years of prior project management in the solar industry is preferred.
● Experience with customer relations management systems is useful.
● Experience managing and facilitating employees’ schedules with an operations calendar.
● Experience providing feedback.
● Must have a valid driver’s license.
● Comfortable working in an active, open work area, and potentially climbing ladders.
● Clear and positive communication, both verbal and written.
● Computer skills Proficient in G-suite and other computer programs
● Time management and prioritization skills
Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree or comparable.
Travel and Work schedule: Individuals will have the same schedule as field team members which consists of 10-hour days starting at 7 am, Mon-Thurs. The Project Manager is responsible for providing direction to the field team in regard to the installation schedule. The CTLs will work alongside the PM and provide direction on construction-related items. Due to the collaborative nature of this position, it is important that the PM is in the office upon crew arrival in the morning and again when the crew comes back to the office at the end of the day to adjust the schedule and update customers on changes. Occasional travel including out-of-state and overnight will be needed for material delivery, training, staff meetings and to support Creative Energies team operations.
Reports to/Supervises: The Associate Project Manager reports directly to the Project Manager. Works in concert with the local office Construction Team Lead. Coordinates with the Procurement Lead, Design Team, Service Team and Operations Team Lead, and others as needed. Indirectly assists in the supervision of field staff.
