Northwood Place's Energy Needs

Creative Energies was hired to design and install a complex group of grid tied solar power systems on a new, low-income housing development called Northwood Place in Ketchum, Idaho.

The Creative Energies Solution:

The installation included 247 solar modules mounted on 12 different roofs. The 11 inverters were interconnected with five separate electrical services. Extensive coordination was required between the project developer, the project architect, the general contractor, and Idaho Power. Aesthetics and maximizing energy output from limited roof space were driving forces in the design. We utilized SunPower all-black solar modules to meet both of these requirements.

The Northwood Place project was a finalist for the National 2010 SunPower Intelagant Award.

The System:

• 55.5 kW grid tied solar energy system
• Roof-mounted, interconnected to five different electrical services
• SunPower web-based system monitoring
