Summit County Justice Center's Energy Needs

The Summit County Justice Center in Park City, Utah is a huge consumer of electricity. The Justice Center houses the Sheriff’s Office, county jail, and emergency dispatch center that operate 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. Also located in the Justice Center are the District and Justice Courts. Altogether, the facility uses 1,400,000 kWh each year.

The Creative Energies Solution

Creative Energies was hired to design and install a solar energy system for the Justice Center that would significantly offset their electricity consumption. The 220.35 kW solar system we ultimately designed will produce an average of 310,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electric energy each year, roughly 20-25% of the campus’ annual usage. The electricity cost reduction is anticipated to be $24,000 annually and $600,000 over the next 25 years. Reducing electricity consumption by 20-25% at this location makes a big impact.
